SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2020-2021

After working at Gladstone Institutes for several years, Darío decided to become a dentist. His credentials from Cuba were not accepted, so he returned to college, receiving a B.A. at UC Berkeley while working full-time. Next came a post-baccalaureate program at UCSF, and he applied to the UCSF School of Dentistry, where he was accepted.

Darío is now in his last year of a four-year program.

Congratulations, Darío. We are proud of you!

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2020-2021

KRITHIKKA RAVI is the recipient of an Anavy Education Fund award for her important work on neurological disorders at Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco.

Krithikka performs cell-based assay experiments to understand genetic perturbations in neurological disorders using a robotic confocal microscope.

She also designs and executes fluorescence-based cell cycle analysis experiments to understand cell cycle changes in healthy and diseased cells.

With a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from City University of New York, Krithikka designs and executes fluorescence-based cell cycle analysis experiments to understand cell cycle changes in healthy and diseased cells. She uses a robotic confocal microscope to conduct longitudinal imaging to capture changes in fluorescent signals, and has custom built an image analysis tool to track cell cycle changes in healthy and diseased cells, conducting verification and validation steps to ensure efficient functioning of the tool.

ADDITIONAL GRANTS 2020
